My New Journey into Learning Ad Rolls – And How You Can Start Too

If you’ve been following my work for a while, you know I love creating, connecting, and finding ways to share my jewelry with people who truly get it. Recently, I decided to take things to the next level: I’m diving into Ad Rolls-an online advertising tool that helps you reach the right audience at the right time.

This is my first time fully committing to learning the ins and outs of targeted ads, so I wanted to bring you along for the ride. Whether you’re a fellow small business owner, an artist, or someone curious about reaching a wider audience, this post will give you the starting roadmap.

Why I’m Learning Ad Rolls

AdRolls (and similar platforms) allow you to:

  • Retarget people who’ve visited your website or social media but didn’t make a purchase.
  • Find new audiences similar to your existing customers.
  • Run multiple ad campaigns across social media, Google, and other networks-all in one place.

For me, it’s not just about more sales-it’s about building consistent visibility. I want people who connect with my work to actually see it, instead of getting lost in algorithm land.

The Basics You Need to Get Started

Here’s what you’ll want in place before running ads:

  1. A Clear Goal
Are you trying to increase website visits? Sell a specific product? Grow your email list? Your goal will shape your ad’s design, copy, and targeting.
  2. Your Target Audience
Think about who you’re trying to reach:
    • Age range
    • Interests and hobbies
    • Locations
    • Shopping behavior
Ad Rolls can also build “lookalike audiences” based on your best customers.
  3. A Website or Landing Page That Converts
Ads are only as good as the page they lead to. Make sure your product page is easy to navigate, loads quickly, and has a clear “Buy” or “Sign Up” button.
  4. Good Visuals & Copy
Eye-catching photos or short videos work best. Keep your ad text short, specific, and focused on what’s in it for your audience.
  5. A Budget You’re Comfortable Testing
Start small, $5–$15/day-and track the results before scaling up.

My Step-by-Step Starting Plan

  1. Set Up My Ad Roll Account
I created an account and connected it to my website and social media.
  2. Install Tracking Pixels
This tiny piece of code lets Ad Roll track visitors and show them ads later (retargeting).
  3. Create My First Campaign
I’m starting with a retargeting ad for people who’ve visited my jewelry site in the past 30 days.
  4. Test & Tweak
I’ll run my ad for at least a week, then check the data to see what’s working-click-through rates, purchases, etc.-and adjust my visuals or audience.
  5. Expand to Prospecting Ads
Once retargeting is performing well, I’ll start reaching new people who have never heard of my brand but fit my ideal customer profile.

Lessons I’ve Already Learned

  • Always have at least two versions of your ad to compare (different photos or text).
  • Short videos under 15 seconds tend to get more attention than still images.
  • Don’t panic if results are slow the first few days—ads often take time to “warm up” and find your audience.

Want to Try It Yourself?

If you’ve been thinking about running ads, start by:

  1. Defining your ideal customer.
  2. Creating a product or service page that’s crystal clear.
  3. Setting up a free Ad Roll account to explore.

It’s not as intimidating as it looks-and I’ll be sharing my results, mistakes, and wins as I go.
